A Note from Maryn
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sunday 9:18 a.m. EST
A quiet street in Batesville, IN
We made it.
We left Chicago on Thursday…
And 2 days and 246 miles later, we’re finally here in Batesville.
We even have most of the boxes unpacked.
I wish I could say the move was uneventful, but Uhaul took care
of making it interesting.
Our poor truck managed to lose a belt from the engine somewhere
on interstate 74E. We knew something was wrong right away
because the power steering went out, the power breaks went out,
red lights started coming on and some little buzzer under the
dashboard went nuts.
We pulled off the highway and called the emergency hotline at
5:00 p.m. And then after seven hours of sitting in the parking
lot of Mike’s Express Car Wash (I’ve never seen more clean cars
come in for a car wash!), we had the belt repaired and were back
in business.
What’s your worst moving story?
Just send it to us via email and we’ll print the best one (or
worst one 🙂 in the next newsletter.
Just a reminder, here’s the new address again:
OK, now let’s get to the good stuff…
The Latest Reed Special
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The BIG MKL Reeds announcement is only about 20 days away…

We’ve got a lot of work to do to put the finishing touches on our
secret project, but we are getting very excited as the date gets
closer.

Mark your calendars now for Tuesday, September 12, 2006.

Don’t worry, we’ll give you some hints as we get closer…

The Reed Tip
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whether you are moving across the country or going from one
climate to another, give your reeds a day or so to acclimate to
the change.
If you start scraping right away, you’ll run the risk of ruining
good reeds that just need some time to adjust.
Oboe Reed Trivia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Each week we feature a bit of oboe trivia to help keep your oboe
brains sharp. Sometimes the questions are easy, sometimes they
are not so easy.

Each Friday night, all of the correct answers we receive from all
of you are put into a hat and one lucky winner is chosen to
receive a special prize.

Congratulations to last week’s trivia winner, Lauren Williams!

The most likely cause of BOTH a sudden flatness in your playing
AND an unstable feeling in your reed is that your reed is
cracking.

Lauren, just let us know via email where you would like your
prize sent.

Here’s this week’s question:

Reeds are often made so that one blade is a tiny bit shorter than
the other. Which blade is often a wee bit shorter and why?

Submit your answers via email to [email protected] by Friday at
5:00PM CST to be included in the drawing.

Good luck!

Thanks for reading. Until next time…

Happy playing,

Maryn Leister
