The likes of which had never been seen.

Reed “Tip” of the Month
——————————
As you know, oboe reeds are made of 2 tiny pieces of wood that
fit together to make an opening. Pretty simple.
Depending on variables such as gouge, shape, cane, and climate,
however, different reeds may look different in how their 2
blades fit together – especially when the reed is dry.
This does not necessarily affect how your reed will function!
When you receive or make a reed, soak it up and THEN look at
it and play it. Don’t judge a reed by how it looks
and functions DRY because you don’t PLAY it when it’s
dry.
Judging your reed when it’s dry is like judging how well
an umbrella works without opening it up! Soak your reed
correctly and play it before judging it.
Remember, do everything you can to help your reed play
its best and it will do everything it can to help you play YOUR best!
