Reed “Tip” of the Month
——————————

Playing the English horn can be stressful enough
without the possibility of the reed slipping off the
bocal before or during your playing.

In order to keep the reed firmly on the bocal and to
promote better suction, many English hornists use
rubber tubing on the end of the staple.

A small length of tubing on the reed goes a long way
to give your reed a better fit and to give you the
peace of mind that your reed is firmly attached to
your bocal.

Just be careful to take the reed off the bocal with the
tubing STILL attached to the staple—getting a rubber
ring off the bocal can be a nuisance.

MKL Reeds now includes this tubing on ALL English horn reeds!
