The BUZZ

Introducing… MKL Reeds Monthly Reeds Subscriptions!
Just imagine…
A full order of reeds appearing in your mailbox every month
WITHOUT having to place an order.
Why should I subscribe when I can just order, you ask?
Well…
The BENEFITS of being a SUBSCRIBER:
-You will avoid REED EMERGENCIES by always having reeds on their way!
-You will have the peace of mind that comes with receiving MONTHLY REEDS!
And most importantly…
You save MONEY!! Beginning January 2003, MKL Reeds will be raising reed prices
in order to compensate for the increasing cost of cane and supplies.
By submitting your order for a reed subscription, you can lock-in this year’s
prices for all of 2003! That’s NEXT year’s reeds at THIS year’s prices.
Here’s how it works:
Simply place a reed order via the website BEFORE midnight on December 31, 2002. In the
“Special Instructions” area, type “SUBSCRIPTION.”
Whatever combination of reeds you have in THIS order will become your monthly reed subscription.
The reeds from your “subscription order” will ship on January 15, 2003 and on the 15th
of each month thereafter.
In a nutshell…
Lock-in 2002 prices by paying for your subscription order before midnight, December 31, 2002.
Your reeds will ship EVERY month beginning on January, 15, 2003. Your credit card will be electronically debited each month on your reed shipment date (beginning in February since you already paid for January.) All subscriptions will be confirmed via email.
Of course, you can start a reed subscription at ANY TIME by following the same
directions. However, the deadline for locking-in 2002 prices is December 31.
Think ahead before the holidays and set yourself up for monthly peace of mind in 2003!!!
To begin, just visit: http://www.mklreeds.com

Reed “Tip” of the Month
——————————
The well of your oboe is the place where you plug in the reed,
and it varies in size from oboe to oboe.
Just like some reeds fit tightly and require cork grease to slide
into the well, it’s not uncommon for some reeds to fit loosely in
the well.
This is an easy problem to solve!
All you need is some CIGARETTE PAPER. Just tear off a long piece
about 10mm in height. Moisten the short end of the paper and place
it in the center of the cork, then wrap the rest of the paper around
the cork and moisten the loose end to “glue” it down. This easy trick
beefs up your cork so it will fit snuggly in your well for better
suction and response!
This may need to be repeated a few times in the lifespan of the reed.
