Notice the change in this section’s heading?  We’ve gone from Owner
to Owners!
 
MKL Reeds is very proud to name Anne Austin to position of Co-Owner
at MKL Reeds (APPLAUSE).  Anne and Maryn, friends and colleagues at
Eastman for many years, have decided to merge their creative ideas as
well as their reedmaking.

In addition to her current role as an MKL Reeds reedmaker, Anne will be
able to offer her business expertise to make your MKL Reeds experience
even better.

So what does this mean for me, an MKL Reeds customer?  It means MORE,

Reed “Tip” of the Month

Reeds are air-breathing animals.  

Reeds at MKL Reeds don’t need very much soaking to play their best.  
The reeds are scraped well and too much water will actually clog
the fibers of the reed, sort of “drowning” it.

You will get the best stability, pitch, response and overall tone from
your reed if you don’t “soak” AT ALL.  

We suggest a quick dip in water and then allowing the reed to sit outside
of the water for a minute or two.  Then, blow out the excess water, pop it
in your oboe, and you’ll be ready with a great reed.
