From the Owners’ Office
———————–

As we sit here and write this month’s newsletter,
the mercury in Chicago is in the mid nineties.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t exactly
8:00 pm. Things are supposed to cool off in a
few days, but we have one word for those in
charge of forecasting the weather:

Enough with the heat. We (and our oboes) are ready
for the cool fall. Please help 🙂

Hope you all are staying cool.

Reed “Tip” of the Month
————————-

Be sure to take great care of the entire reed by
always grabbing the cork when taking the reed in
and out of your oboe.

The cork is generally pretty strong, and not half
as fragile as where the cane is tied onto the
tube. So, simply put, try not to grab the reed
string but only the cork.

This will extend the life of your reed by
preventing it from unraveling!
