How do you know if you'll like an oboe reed before you play it? You can't. When the rubber finally hits the road, it hardly matters if the reed is a great one, perfectly customized to your every desire, if it just plain doesn't work well for you.

Thanks Maryn. What wonderful advice. Unfortunately, I'm not at that point in my oboe playing to be able to use such great advice, but I think it is advice that we can use in any oboe playing or performance situation. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge. You are inspirational.
