A Note from Maryn

Monday, 6:37 P.M.

Dear Oboe Player,

What a great week last week! We had our first online oboe
event and I really had a great time!

The feedback has been great and we’ll be planning to cover
more great topics in the near future.

We’ve got a lot of neat stuff today, so let’s jump in!

=====================
What’s New? Our First
Online Oboe Event!
=====================

On Wednesday, we held our first ever online oboe event
called “7 Ways to Get More Music Out of Your Oboe Reeds!!”

For those of you who missed it, we had a great time! The
event was a presentation style “reed class” that I taught
online.

If you missed registering but would like to view the video
online, you can purchase it at the link below:

(Just scroll down to the bottom of the page.)

(NOTE: If you already DID register for the event, you should
have already received the password to view the replay. You
should have also received links to download your bonuses as
well. If not, please contact us.)

And don’t forget, there’s free shipping on oboe reeds
through New Year’s Eve…

I’m not sure why, but to me, there’s nothing better than
ordering something online WITHOUT having to pay shipping.

Featured Oboe Video
====================

This week’s video is one of my most favorite oboe pieces
ever… it’s from the Poulenc Oboe Sonata.

This was the first piece I ever played with this quirky
organist guy I met during my freshman year at Eastman. I
invited him to accompany me on the piano for an oboe studio
performance of the Poulenc.

Little did I know at the time, that he would soon be my
husband.

At any rate, this piece is beautiful… take a listen!

Oboe Thought of the Week
=========================

Music is love in search of a word.
-Sidonie Gabrielle

Did you ever think that what you’re really doing when you
play the oboe is communicating love?

Next time you’re up in front of a group of people and your
nerves are starting to get to you, just remember that.

===============
The Oboe Tip
===============

Don’t forget to get your oboe adjusted! All the best reeds
in the world won’t be too great if your oboe is out of
adjustment. When’s the last time YOU got yours checked?

===============
Facebook® Fun
===============

Here’s this week’s question: If you weren’t playing the
oboe, what other instrument would you love to play.

I’ll go first and let you know that I’ve always wanted to
play the cello.

What would you be playing if you didn’t have the oboe and
why?

Showcase your answer on our Facebook® Page here:

Thanks for reading. Until next time…

Happy playing,

Maryn Leister
