About

Hi! Welcome to MKL Reeds. My name is Maryn Leister. I am a graduate of the Juilliard Pre-College Division and the Eastman School of Music, where I was a student of Richard Killmer. After graduating from college, I lived in Nashville, TN, then headed to Knoxville, TN, New York City, and finally Chicago.

I have played with the Nashville Symphony, Huntsville Symphony, Alabama Symphony, Florida Philharmonic and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.

In addition to the symphony, I also love to play chamber music and give recitals. I often perform with my husband, an organist, and am a founding member of the baroque ensemble, Camerata Fucsia.

Right now, home for me is Cornville Arizona, where I live with my husband, four kids and cute dogs Finn, Bella and Macy.

The reason I started this company is plain and simple:

Oboists need reeds.

And good reeds don’t grow on trees.

This is where we come in…

We make great reeds so you don’t have to.

We can make a reed so you can work on playing the oboe and making music. After all, that is really what you want to do, right?
